WHAT IS RCIA?
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process established for the universal Church to prepare individuals who seek to become Catholic and receive the sacraments of initiation – Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. This initiation process also involves the parish community. The involvement of the parish community allows those already Catholic to experience a renewal in faith as they share in preparing and welcoming new members into the Church. The Rite approaches the process of conversion as a “spiritual journey”. This journey is centered on fostering a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church he founded.
The process is divided into stages to allow those involved to receive thorough catechesis, an understanding of and relationship with the parish community, and the invitation to commit oneself to the liturgical and moral life of the Catholic faithful.
WHO IS RCIA FOR?
1. Persons who have never been baptized.
2. Persons already baptized in another Christian tradition who desire to become Catholic.
3. Persons baptized in the Catholic Church in need of First Communion and / or Confirmation.
